Questions about course costs, what's included, and how to choose.
How much does a BDE driving course cost in Etobicoke or Mississauga?
Omega offers two BDE packages. The Standard Package is $749+HST and includes 20h online BDE theory, 10h home-study curriculum, and 10h in-car lessons. The Extended Package is $959+HST and includes the same theory components but 15h in-car. Both include your MTO insurance certificate, free pick-up and drop-off, and free road test booking assistance.
Individual lessons start at $60+HST per hour. 5-lesson blocks are $275+HST and 10-lesson blocks are $550+HST.
Which package should I choose — Standard or Extended?
If your teenager is a complete beginner with no driving experience at all, we recommend the Extended Package. The extra 5 in-car hours allow us to focus on the manoeuvres and test routes that cause the most road test failures. Students who complete the Extended Package have a measurably higher first-attempt pass rate.
If the student has some prior driving experience or you're an adult returning to driving after a break, the Standard Package may be enough. Call us and we'll give you an honest recommendation, not a sales pitch.
Are there any extra charges at the end? Any hidden fees?
No. The price on the package is the price you pay. The MTO insurance certificate is included. Free pick-up and drop-off is included. Road test booking assistance is included.
The only costs not in the package price are: the MTO road test fee (paid directly to DriveTest when you book — this is a government fee we don't control) and the optional use of our vehicle for test day. Both will be explained clearly when you register.
Can I add more in-car hours if I need them?
Yes, at any point. Individual lesson blocks are available at $60+HST per hour. We'll be upfront with you if we think you need more time before the road test — we'd rather delay a booking than send you to a test you're not ready for.
How pick-up works, what to expect, and what's covered.
Do you pick students up from their home?
Yes — free pick-up and drop-off is included with every in-car lesson anywhere in Etobicoke or Mississauga. We'll pick up from your home, school, or workplace — whichever is more convenient. No travel surcharge, no meeting point.
What happens during a typical in-car lesson?
Ljuba or Amdija picks you up, and the lesson begins right away. Early lessons focus on vehicle control, smooth braking, and basic manoeuvres. As the course progresses, we move to more complex skills — parallel parking, three-point turns, highway merging, and eventually the specific routes used by the Etobicoke DriveTest examiners. Every lesson ends with a brief debrief so you know exactly what to work on next.
What kind of car do you use for lessons?
We use a Toyota Corolla with a full dual-control setup — meaning the instructor has a complete second set of brake and gas pedals. Students are never in a situation they're not ready to handle. The vehicle is fully insured for driving instruction and regularly maintained.
Can I take lessons in Serbian?
Yes. Both Ljuba and Amdija are fluent in English and Serbian. Many families in Etobicoke and Mississauga from Serbian and former-Yugoslav communities request lessons in Serbian. Just note your preference when you register and we'll match you accordingly.
How Ontario's graduated licensing system works and what BDE means for you.
What is BDE and why does it matter?
BDE stands for Beginner Driver Education — Ontario's MTO-approved driver training program. A certified BDE program has three components: online theory (20h), home-study curriculum (10h), and in-car lessons (10–15h). Omega is MTO-certified to deliver all three.
Completing a certified BDE program earns you two concrete benefits that an uncertified school cannot offer: a shorter G1 waiting period and an MTO insurance certificate.
Does BDE shorten my G1 waiting period?
Yes. Without a certified BDE program, you must hold your G1 for 12 months before you can book your G2 road test. Completing a certified BDE program like Omega's reduces that to 8 months — four months faster to your licence.
What is the MTO insurance certificate and how does it save money?
When you complete a certified BDE program, you receive an MTO insurance certificate. Present it to your auto insurance provider and they'll apply a discount to your car insurance premium — typically for several years after licensing. The savings vary by provider, but over multiple years they often amount to a significant portion of the course cost. This certificate is included in both Omega packages at no extra charge.
How long does the full BDE program take?
The online theory and home-study modules typically take 2–4 weeks depending on how much time you put in each day — you work at your own pace. In-car lessons are scheduled around your availability and typically span 4–8 weeks. Most students complete the entire BDE program within 6–12 weeks from registration.
Which DriveTest centre do you prepare students for?
We primarily prepare students for the Etobicoke DriveTest centre on Rexdale Boulevard. After 30 years operating in this neighbourhood, Ljuba and Amdija know exactly which routes the examiners use, what they look for at specific intersections, and where most students lose points. By your test day, you've already driven those roads many times.
What to expect on test day and what happens if you don't pass.
What is Omega's road test pass rate?
Our first-attempt G2 road test pass rate is 91%. Ontario's provincial average for first-attempt road tests is approximately 55–60%. The difference comes from thorough preparation — specifically practicing on the exact routes the Etobicoke DriveTest examiners use, and not booking a student's test until we're genuinely confident they're ready.
What if I fail my road test?
First, we review the DriveTest examiner's written report with you — it lists every error and every point deduction. We then build a targeted plan addressing the specific issues. Individual lesson blocks are available to top up your practice before the re-test, and we'll work with you until you pass.
We don't push students to the test before they're ready. If we had concerns before your first attempt, we'll have told you. If you fail despite being well-prepared, we take it seriously and figure out why.
Can I use the Omega car for my road test?
Yes. Using our vehicle for the road test is available for an additional fee. It has the advantage of being the same car you practiced in — same controls, same feel, no adjustment needed on a stressful day. Ask about this when you register and we'll include it in your file.
What parents most commonly ask us before registering their teenager.
My teenager is very nervous — can you work with anxious drivers?
Yes, and this is one of the things Ljuba and Amdija are specifically known for. The dual-control vehicle means the instructor can intervene at any moment, which removes the high-stakes pressure from early lessons. Ljuba in particular has a calm, patient teaching style that is well-suited to anxious students. Lessons are paced entirely to the student's comfort — we don't rush.
How do I know my child's progress throughout the course?
After each in-car lesson, the instructor provides a brief debrief to the student covering what went well and what to work on next. If you'd like regular updates as a parent, just let us know when registering and we'll include you in the communication. You can also call Ljuba or Amdija directly at any point — you're talking to the instructor, not an admin team.
How long before my child can take the G2 road test?
With a certified BDE program, your teenager can book the G2 road test 8 months after receiving their G1 (instead of the standard 12 months). The BDE program itself typically takes 6–12 weeks to complete, so the waiting period is usually the longer constraint. Once the waiting period is up and we feel they're test-ready, we help them book immediately.
Do you offer lessons for seniors or adults returning to driving?
Yes. Both Ljuba and Amdija have experience with adults of all ages — including seniors returning to driving after a long break, and newcomers to Canada getting their first Ontario licence. Individual lesson blocks (rather than full BDE packages) are typically the best fit for experienced adults who just need to refresh specific skills or build confidence for the road test.
How to sign up and what to expect after you do.
What information do I need to register?
Registration takes about 5 minutes. You'll need: your full name, date of birth, contact information (phone and email), your current licence level (G1 or none), your preferred package, and your scheduling preferences (time of day, days of week). You don't need to have your G1 before registering.
What happens after I submit the registration form?
Ljuba or Amdija will contact you directly — typically the same day during business hours — to confirm your enrolment, answer any questions, and begin scheduling your online theory access and first in-car lesson. You won't be dealing with a receptionist or automated system.
When can I start?
In most cases, you can start the online theory component within a day or two of registering. In-car lessons are scheduled based on instructor availability and your preferred times — we typically get students into their first lesson within 1–2 weeks of registration.
